Title: A PLACE OF SACRIFICE
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] mangacat201
Author: [livejournal.com profile] brutti_ma_buoni
Pairing/Characters: Jared/Jensen
Rating: R
Wordcount: 6400
Disclaimer:
I don’t own their images, that honor falls to the CW and Eric Kripke in terms of Supernatural and of course to Jared and Jensen in terms of themselves, I just play in the sandbox without looking for profit.

Warnings/Spoilers: No warnings for the art, except antique nudity, I guess. Please refer to the story masterpost for further warnings.

Summary: In a nation where adult destinies are set by draft, Jensen's always known he and Jared can't expect to be together. But he dreamed it might happen all the same. And when Jared's destiny turns bad, Jensen isn't about to leave him alone. Whatever it takes.

A/N: Man, this challenge was so easy and so hard this year, I can't even begin to describe it. Easy in the way my artwork came together from an idea to a fully fleshed out piece, hard in the way that I had little time to be a helping hand in the writing process, much less make more piece. Real life is a tough bitch sometimes. But I still want to thank [livejournal.com profile] brutti_ma_buoni a big bunch, because she managed to tease out so much more from this pic than I had dared to imagine and delivered a truly engaging, world building story that blew me away. That's what I love about this challenge at [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang and I'm grateful that I get to be a part of it again this year.

WOW - early posting date!
Congrats on posting!
I love the piece, and I am looking forward to checking out the fic!

I love how well you have cut out and put the objects on the background! Nice clean cut without being jagged. That is harder than it looks! I especially love how well Jensen's face is placed on the statue!

Well done!

Yes, I took a big gulp at the posting date when I first saw it and then I almost missed it because of work, truly amazing, my scatterbrain!

And I thank you for pointing out how definitely not easy it was to outline the statuary and deal with not only putting their faces on, but making 21st ct. pics look like 2000 year old marble, LOL. Believe you me, Jensen's face fought me every step of the way. Thank you for commenting, I can't wait for your piece to come out too! My second one will be at the end of the challenge so there's enough time to get my shit together on that one. Ahem.

So I think I mentioned once or twice (or more) how exciting this art is if you're a writer. It sent my head in all kinds of directions, buzzing around, but I'm really happy with the one we settled on. It seems to do justice to the ancient-modern feel of the art, where so much is inexplicable and so much is familiar.

I do wish I could have taken more from the Justice figure, though, because I still adore what you did there, making her so fragile and yet so terrible.

I do appreciate it, since this challenge is always more than just making art, it's making storytelling art. I'm also very happy with how it turned out - though I have to give all the kudos for Justice to 'Daredevil's' graphics department, I just pilfered the most gorgeous title sequence EVER.

It's a shame you didn't get time to create more art as I'd have loved to have seen what else you had in mind, but this is a lovely manip and I'm really looking forward to reading brutti_na_boni's take on it!
Congrats on being the first to post too! :D

Wonderful art! The colours and neatly done manips. I adored the story too - world building at its best!

Thank you for sharing :)

Love the subtle manips you made to turn the statues into Jensen and Jared. Isn't it interesting that peensize was not the focus in the old days *grins*

LOL, believe me, that only worked because I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I developed the concept (I basically do all my art this way, have an idea of what I want it to look like and then google the techniques I need to learn to DO it)
And yes, the peen... ehehehe, maybe they were more about skill in these days?

The story totally made the art into something truly great in the way it was interpreted! And I love the colours too, one of the reasons why I wanted Justice so bad as the base for the piece.

Yeah, I'm kinda bummed too - the story was outfitted with so many great visual ideas. Alas, working a full time job the first year of my life has cut into my fandom activities big time, which is meh, but making a living, so yay...
Anyway, I hope you'll love the story as much as I did, it's great!

What a fab manip. I know just how hard it is to get clean lines, and to blend pictures to make them look seamless. Making their faces fit with the marble must have been hellishly difficult. Well done!

Thank you, that is an awesome compliment! And indeed, their heads and faces definitely were a major part of fiddling that I had to do on the piece and I'm thrilled that people think they turned out well.
