I'm sorry to clutter my flist with such sad news, but I gotta say this somewhere so that it'll hopefully not make me cry right away again. This afternoon, after much deliberating and lots of tears, we've put our Elenor to sleep. She was five and a half, but an eye condition blinded her and caused her great pain, so we let her go.
She was the most gentle and giving soul and after being born into our home, she brought us joy and peace every single day we were allowed to spend with her. Rest in peace, baby, you were the most amazing companion.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know how much a part of the family our pets become. I had to have my dog put to sleep a little over a year ago due to old age and it still makes me cry to think about her.

Sadly, of the four dogs we buried over the past seven years only one went natural at fifteen and a half. But in the end, you have to decide what's best for them and not yourself, so that's what we did.

It's never an easy decision to make but I believe you have to do what's best for them. It broke my heart to make the decision to put Hermione (my cat) to sleep last year after she'd suffered a stroke.

You have my sympathies *hugs* - always remember the goods memories you have of her, as I imagine there are plenty of them *hugs* xx
