I'm feeling like Real Life has me in seriously time-consuming clutches right now and while I'm happy I get to work in a way that is both satisfying and fun, I feel a little cut off from Fandom since I can barely manage to read let alone write any fannish endeavours and I feel like a poor friend.
Dear Flisties, please write me something that went on in your fannish or nonfannish lives the past couple of weeks or shit that's on your mind, so I can keep up a bit. I need a little virtual socialisation.

Date: 2012-12-15 11:19 pm (UTC)My battalion was having a "morale" event just before Thanksgiving. A flag football game, actually. But there was a problem, no one had found someone to sing the national anthem at the beginning. So one of the company commanders was asking every soldier if they could sing. I was the first not to lie.
Guess who had to sing the national anthem in front of a few hundred people with about 10 minutes warning?
It went well enough, I suppose. But I thought I was going to faint in the middle of it. I learned something, that day. When in the military, never, ever, say you know how to do something.
