I know this is a novel concept...

... but I've decided in light of the recent LJ repopulation effort, that considering all those years I've spent on here by now, I've used my LJ way too little for the express purpose it was originally created for. So, I'm going to step away from just reading other people's posts and thinking my thoughts in my head and start actually writing down the goings on in my real life and my fandom life. So, prepare for random slice of life posts to start littering your inboxes and feeds *lol*.
So, still looking for a job that will actually earn me a living wage so I can move out of my parents' attic once and for all, but I'll start preparing for a promising interview on Monday today. It's a 20h/week maternity cover for 1 1/2 years, but it's in my preferred profession and I would make enough money to support myself, probably sticking in a few tutoring lessons to make something extra. Also, right now I actually got a part-time job that doesn't really make me enough to move out, but I considering doing that anyway, because I just need my own space. We'll see.
I've also been trying to pay more attention to the news so I can be an informed, opinionated person and let me tell you, so much stuff going on in the world. Spy scandals - it's less that the US is actually gathering intelligence here in Germany, that doesn't really surprise me, it's just that they seem to behave very bull in china shop about it and then pretend not to get the outrage when their allies are less than enthused. That's a kind of international relations tone-deafness that has no place in the 21st ct. global community anymore. Either be so damn good you don't get caught or, you know, consider maybe... asking for the information you feel you need? And then, if your partner takes into account values and considerations that make them say 'no', maybe respect that decision, because that's also part of that freedom based social order that keeps getting toted around, but not really lived? I know, respect is a concept that has somehow become the modern Dodo in politics, but still.
Israel-Palestine conflict, worrying, really... I know it's easy to say that from a cushy desk chair in a western world country that hasn't seen armed conflict within their borders for a very blessedly seventy years, but those people down there are going to destroy each other if they don't realize that this conflict is never going to be resolved with violence and armed conflict. All that will result in, is killing people. I really hope that somewhere down the line, the high and mighty in this will realize that and try to get back to a different way of resolving those issues.
And to close with something light-hearted and shallow, still can't quite believe what happened to us in Brazil this week. Looking forward to the conclusion of the world cup and crossing fingers for our team, though I'm under no illusion that the final game will not be a hard nut to crack. But I believe we can do it this year, so yay.
Fandom is... well, I was just joking the other day to
insane_songbird that I have Fandom ADD because I keep bouncing around all the shiny little nooks and crannies since the involuntary free time resulted in a lot of reading time and I've been splitting between SPN, Inception, X-men First Class, and even though I hadn't really read a lot of Marvel related stuff, till the Winter Soldier came out, I was so on the bandwagon after that, no questions asked. So, in terms of writing that means I just got back a
pod_together SPN fic from the beta and waiting to hear word from my reader and I'm writing a Captain America Winter Soldier fic (honest, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THAT EVEN HAPPENED!) which I thought would be about 2k... and is now approaching 12k without even getting me close to the conclusion! First parts are already posted on AO3, but I think I'll wait on the LJ dissemination until I'm done. I've been very doggedly writing little bits and pieces during downtime at work *pshhht* so I've actually been penning stuff pretty regularly those past weeks, which makes me insanely proud. OK, now I gotta go down and dress so I don't make lunch in my pajamas, we'll try this again next week or so!

Date: 2014-07-28 12:12 am (UTC)I've been sticking to the SPN and Merlin fandoms pretty closely, because there is more than enough -- sometimes too much -- to keep up with. But every once in a while I will read a very highly recommended fic outside of these. Though I haven't read a Marvel universe, Inception, or X-Men fic yet.
