Warnings: Temporary Character Death, angst! hurt!Sam, protective!Dean, protective!Sam
Summary: Dean’s a ghost but hey, Sam will get him back alive and in the meantime, he’s right here, so it’s all okay, right? Right? What’s right is the Winchester brother’s complicated, impossible codependent need to fix it, regardless of the consequences. Set around 9:10, before they find Cain and the First Blade.

A/N: I was really not sure whether I'd participate in BigBang this year because I knew if I did, it would be as a photo-manip artist instead of a vidder for the first time. Again, I told myself, if I could find a story I could immediately see art for, I'd jump in feet first and miraculously, reading through all the amazing summaries, I did. And all technical challenges (Photoshop bucking, internet outage SNAFU etc.) aside, I'm thrilled that I got to know
ameliacareful during her first venture into fandom and create what I hope is some art that does her great story justice. Thanks for all the patience. Thanks to
insane_songbird for some art-beta and tutorial support and
silkylustre for the seagulls and the squee.

It's Sam/Dean, which I don't read, so I can't comment on how well the fit the story... but I can comment on how well I like the art in it self - and I like it!
I especially like the first one - the placements on the characters on the background are perfect, and the choice of Deans are really good (what a strange sentence). But when you make images like these - it is important that the ghost you see matches the body on the ground when it comes to clothes etc, and it does! I like that you have kept an eye on details like that!
Ah - woman coming out of the water. Scenes like that always draws me in, and when I get to making them, I'm lost - because really - how do you make that? I like your solution!

Date: 2015-08-16 12:00 pm (UTC)As for this one, it's actually Gen (like, really there's no ship at all), if you wanted to be really nitpicky, you could call it Gencest, but no more than the show itself, so if you're interested, give it a whirl, the story's gorgeous!
Thank you so, so much for your kind words towards the art though, you have no idea how much it means to me that you picked up on Dean's clothes! (I tried originally to turn Dead!Dean's shirt blue like Ghost!Dean's which was a bitch because of the pattern, and then I caved and turned Ghost!Dean's shirt checkered, which was SO much easier *lol*. As for the woman in the water, I basically multiplied all the freeflying seagulls by grouping them and making a new brush and layered that as a background behind a half transparent free silhouette shape, a technique I got from a youtube tutorial and already used in my reveresebang art last year. But yeah, I think sometimes not knowing what you can do, but having a vision and then finding the techniques to make it happen can be a good thing. Birdie, when she did art-beta looked at it and was like 'of COURSE you had to pick the single most DIFFICULT to depict moment in the story, didn't you?', but hey, that's what spoke to me when I reviewed the summaries.
I'm really thrilled that such an experienced and accomplished artist as yourself likes them!
