Proof of Life and Dragon Con

Long overdue post is long overdue, but I'm finally ready to say I'M ALIVE.
Two weeks in the US of A already and I've managed to wrangle transatlantic flights, Texan Heat (and Texan food) and pros and cons of an air-conditioned country and the first week of college, both inside and in front of class.

So far, I'm really happy with where I ended up because Southern hospitality and the most charming squirrels on campus are a good combination for greatness.

One wish however, remains unfullfilled. I'm near Rome, GA and only about an hour from Atlanta by car and I'd REALLY REALLY like to go to Dragon*Con next weekend, but since i don't have a car or a place to stay I have no way of getting there... I'll sleep on hotel room floors, I'll take one day, any day (from Friday two pm onwards) is there anyone going from my flist or knows someone who does and would be willing to take a stranded fangirl? Can you even still get tickets? I have no idea, but it would be awesome if it could happen somehow. *sigh*

I was just about to ask how you were, did you get settled in okay etc... and I'm pleased to see you have! I expect many stories about the US from here on out (and I hope you manage to get the dragon*con thing sorted out!).

Yeah, I've been feeling very welcome here and my students are all nice and study well... First test on Friday, let's see how they do. Dragon*Con, I don't know, I fear it won't be happening, but on the other hand, I can use Labour Weekend to prepare some more lessons and get my course projects sorted out. We'll see.
