Supernatural Season 6 Episode 3 Reaction
Oct. 9th, 2010 09:22 amWOW, guys, it's been a long time coming and I know I haven't been around much in fic or otherwise but RL has taken over for the moment.
Still, I've browsed through some of the recent episode reactions of the first two episodes, but I've never felt the need to make a statement of my own. That's changed now and the first thing I want to say - and this is my very own personal opinion - is:
HOLY FRICKING HELL SHOW YOU ROCK OUR SOCKS.
Well, with that out of the way, I have to say I think that this episode right there was everything our show ever was. Fast paced, witty, original, mystery-unravelling, mystery-upravelling and just fricking gorgeous in the way that our two - three - upstanding family men worked together.
Angels - GOD I love how they brought Cas back and he's getting better at that public relations thing, no matter what he says. The rogue angel plotline with the smattering of holy fundamentalist war that touches onto the very thing society is struggling with, it's just cool and seriously 'moonlighting as a crossroads-demon'? Puts a whole new spin on it.
Mythology - I like the way they spun the apocalypse out of the rails and right into a plot-arc that is well worth being carried a season or two, because lets face it, even though the planet didn't get annihilated there's still bound to be consequences and I really want to see where they're going with the 'First' (or Alpha if you will).
Castiel - awesome little angel is awesome and seriously, that entrance? Just fricking great. 'Special bond'? Yes, definitely... either way, I've never been really partial to an OTP in this show, but if I had to, Sam and Dean would make top of the list. Still, it's great that Dean/Cas fandom is also acknowledged and subsequently made fun of, gives us fans a way of feeling included without being out and out mentioned. I think that it's very important that Cas gets to make his own decisions now even though they're not entirely human and not always portent to what the Winchester(s) may want. The dynamic of three has been a difficult thing to orchestrate ever since Cas became a real member of Team Free Will, but this emancipation of Castiel, his own path and own responsibility is very crucial to make it work. Can't wait to see more of him.
Dean - Oh God, Dean, you're so sweet with the family and the new stuff in your life, but suddenly you sit in your car and become that giant goof ball again that had to take the backburner for so long. But now you're both - managing to be a stay-away dad and a up and up hunter and getting life back on track. You're great, boy! (And a note on Jensen, booooy, does he get better with age, every step of the way)
Sam - Uhm.... what?? Sorry, brain shut off moment take over lady parts... *cough* yes, but please dear, lay of the tanning a little yeah? Anyway, back online fellas and Sam remains a mystery, but with more parts now. Still... I get the feeling that we're getting more of him that we're aware of and the anticipation is rising. But Dean's entirely right, not the whole scoop here.
Sam and Dean - they killed the Bitch-mobile and now we're back in business bitches, hell yeah. They're still not all straightened out of course, but holy moly do I like how they threw them back together just like that. I can't wait for that brother dynamic to take up all the changes and get the awesome.
so. This kinda was it from me, I know people are probably going to find critique for the episode somewhere even if I couldn't due to my bout of unadulterated glee. You're welcome to discuss them here as well though. BUT. One thing left.
