Hellatus...
Jul. 18th, 2014 07:28 pm... is making me do desperate things. Supernatural has been THE SHOW that really got me started into fandom and the crazy existence of being a fangirl, but like many things when they get older (and I know the past couple of years have been hard on some people's fandom love) my unbridled excitement for the show has maybe not waned so much as changed in quality over time. I found myself fondly remembering episodes or scenes, but with little drive to actually rewatch as I felt maybe a little apprehensive that I might not be watching with the same kind of fannish dedication and lacking that carefree attitude of just finding everything that Show ever did awesome, no matter what.
For various reasons, I've been looking into random episodes lately and I found myself spellbound with what we have in that show, no matter the ups and downs. And I just rewatched Swan Song... I know, there's one to rekindle the flames. But actually, when it came on first as the finale of season five, I was watching together with my friends and we were all so anxious of how it was going to play out... I ended up being so numb and floored that I couldn't even really cry over what happened because everything was just so much! So, on this rewatch I bawled my eyes out naturally because it rebranded the image of those boys' story and how profound and relevant it is when you break it down to the most basic into my mind. It was just beautiful and I'm never not going to love Show for giving us those moments of laughing, crying, screaming through the highs and the lows and I'm glad that we still get to look forward to that year after year, no matter how much we bitch and whine. This show and this fandom are unique and I'm proud to call myself one of your own.
And to end this self-indulgent melodrama on lighter note, tell me your rewatch stories... which episodes do you like to revisit over and over again? Do you marathon? Is it a different experience to rewatch the early years after such a long time? Did you start out with the very beginning or join later in the game and mainline seasons on end?
Talk to me, folks!
